Recital with Patrick Hemmerlé
A sell-out recital at Clare Hall, Cambridge, pairing two of the earliest electronic instruments: the theremin and the ondes Martenot. Charlie performs alongside pianist Patrick Hemmerlé in an evening of rare and beautiful music, from Vellones's Fantasie and the Milhaud Suite (two works written specifically for the ondes) to Gershwin's Summertime, Rachmaninoff's Vocalise, Medtner's Suite-Vocalise, and Rózsa's Spellbound Concerto (arr. Paul Jackson), the score that brought the theremin to Hollywood. The concert features the ondes Martenot with both the palme and métallique diffuseurs, as well as the theremin.
