Auerbach's ICARUS with BBC SSO, Edinburgh

The final date of three with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Gemma New, closing the tour in Edinburgh. Charlie performs the theremin solo in Lera Auerbach's Icarus, a fierce, compressed work in which the instrument's unearthly voice embodies the tragedy of Icarus's ascent and fall. The programme also features Shostakovich's First Violin Concerto (Rosanne Philippens) and Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony.
